Cinematic Arts

Santa Ana High School EJO of Film and Cinematic Arts is a rigorous program that provides training in technical and aesthetic tools of the major disciplines of cinematic arts through directing, producing, editing, cinematography, production design, writing, and sound. Students will learn filmmaking through physical and theoretical practice, study the history of film, television and new media from all points of view and be well-prepared for the visual effects process including basic compositing, green screen with live action integration, motion capture, digital effects animation, digital lighting and rendering.

Students will graduate as filmmakers and scholars, studying in a variety of production knowledge, genres and styles with a strong foundation in critique, screenwriting, design, development and execution of innovative research projects around film, television and new media aspects. Students will be developed, supported and encouraged to reach their full artistic and academic potential through an environment that inspires a platform to share culture, experiences and voice representative of an empowered student.

Master classes and guest artist residencies occur each term to allow students to work closely with directors, actors, casting directors, producers and industry professionals. Additionally, there are abundant opportunities to study and view professional production companies in various media arts venues. Students will explore career and post-secondary pursuits with connection to college and industry opportunities.
